The web is progressively driving the hardware/software evolution (think of DRM’s, peripherals such as Palm’s, iPods,…) and we can foresee that every single products might be influenced by the web.
The web strongly influences users habits as well. It influences and even severely questions current societal/economical/cultural values.
Material products and users are both already under the scope of “green practice & products labels”. Given the observed influence of the web on both users and products, the definition of an “eco-label” for websites seems unavoidable and of great interest.
The “accessible website” guidelines seems to share most of what would define one of the base of a website eco-label but there’s no doubt that new dimensions are to explore. What do you think ?
