An eco-label for websites.

February 20, 2006

DSCN2466.jpgThe web is progressively driving the hardware/software evolution (think of DRM’s, peripherals such as Palm’s, iPods,…) and we can foresee that every single products might be influenced by the web.

The web strongly influences users habits as well. It influences and even severely questions current societal/economical/cultural values.

Material products and users are both already under the scope of “green practice & products labels”. Given the observed influence of the web on both users and products, the definition of an “eco-label” for websites seems unavoidable and of great interest.

The “accessible website” guidelines seems to share most of what would define one of the base of a website eco-label but there’s no doubt that new dimensions are to explore. What do you think ?

Art éphémère - Littoral Belge 2003This is my 4th blog attempt. I hope it’s the good one.

I hope because I really feel that I want to share my thoughts… but there’s a long way between that and maintaining a blog alive.

What I want to share is my learning of the web. From «CSS-XML-PHP-MySQL» tricks to «web» as an object of scientific and societal study.

This blog is not not about private life. Neither is a «hire-me» or a «show-off» vitrine. Although, you may find some posts or links related to friends off-topic subjects.
My current web philosophy consist of what I would call an accessible and collaborative universal common. This kind of concept is unfortunately often threathened by cupidity, fear and stupidness (the later might just being a mix of the two first).

This blog might belong to multiple people. Enjoy and leave you comment !
